Samsung Kies is a software application for pc. It lets you connect your Samsung Phones and helps transferring media files, make backup of your contacts, messages, photos, and also helps in upgrading phones firmware to the latest available. That is in another way, upgrading android version.
So if the automatic update using phone fails to upgrade your galaxy s advance phone to latest stock/ official jellybean android version 4.1.2, you can try this method also.
For this method, you will require the Samsung Kies pc software of-course, and a USB data cable of the phone to connect it to the pc.
You can download Samsung Kies from the official site of Samsung or you can head over the download link given below.
Download it and install it to your pc. If you run on to any kind of problem, or you want to know more about the software, you can head over to the samsung kies support page here
After installation, run samsung kies. Connect your phone to the pc via the data cable. The pc will recognize the phone and Samsung Kies will start.
Getting Started
Please if you have other samsung kies already installed
before, uninstall it. Make sure you install samsung kies 2.6 after uninstalling
previous versions.
It is recommended that you run samsung kies 2.6 closing
all other application during software/ firmware update.
Connect your USB data cable directly to your PC and not
through a any external means like usb hub and make the necessary backups
specially your contacts, photos, messages and etc.
Upgrading Your Firmware
Firmware upgrades are available when you connect your
device via USB. Samsung Kies air will not provide you firmware/ software update
because it usese wifi connection to connect your phone to pc. So you must
connect your phone using USB cable.
Now Open Samsung Kies after you connect your phone to pc.
When a new version of firmware/ android version is available, you will see a
notice on the Basic information tab fo the software on pc.
To start the upgrading process, click Firmware upgrade Tab.
If a pop-up message shows up when you connected your device, you can click Update Tab
You
will be prompted to backup you data by Kies and then it will start to upgrade
your galaxy s advance to the latest official jellybean 4.1.2.
While upgrading, samsung kies will download the official firmware first. It will take some time depending upon your connection speed. Just dont unplug your device while upgrading process.
This way, your galaxy s advance will be updated to the latest stock/ official android version to 4.1.2 jellybean.
