Rooting, or simply Jailbreaking means giving an access to your phones system so that a user can change/ modify the core system, settings or files. Rooting your phone enables you to remove unnecessary system apps, annoying ringtones, system wallpapers that you dont like and customize it the way you want it.
So rooting samsung galaxy s advance gt i9070 will give you access for not only those stuff but also enables you to further upgrade the android version / firmware. Till date, samsung galaxy s advance can upgrade to 4.1.2 officially. Samsung have said that phones which have less than a 1gb of ram will not recieve any official updates further. So the galaxy s advance users will have to stay with the jellybean.
But not now. We can further upgrade the firmware using Custom Roms. The user of galaxy s advance can upgrade their phone up to kitkat android version 4.4.4 up untill now, which is way better than official jellybean from samsung.
Thanks to the developers who are working on building Custom Roms. Soon, our device will also have the lollipop android v 5.0.2 update. Team Nova Fusion is working on the lollipop rom for galaxy s advance phone. As soon as they release it, i will have it here.
So, in order to install custom rom, the phone must be running on the latest jellybean firmware from samsung / jellybean stock rom and we must have custom recovery tool installed. And in order to install custom recovery, our device must be rooted.
So to root galaxy s advance gt i9070, you can follow the steps below.
- Download the flashable zip root file from here:
- Download CWM ( Clock work mode) custom recovery flashable zip file from here:
- Download TWRP ( custom recovery file from here )
When you have all the files downloaded to pc, transfer it to your sd card. Turn off your phone and put your phone to recovery mode.
Just hold down Volume up + Home + Power button till you boot into the recovery.
on recovery mode, you will see "install zip from sd card". Scroll up using volume up key and scroll down using volume down key. To make a selection use power button or home key.
After choosing " install zip from sd card", select root.zip file from your sd card. Your phone will apply the update. Then after completing the update, go back and again choose " install zip from sd card ".
This time select Update.zip.
Updates will start to apply and this time you will have a new screen something like:
This is a custom recovery known as CMW recovery. This is not touch enabled. So you again have to use volume up/down key to navigate and power button for making selection.
From here, again choose " install zip from sd card " and now navigate to CoCore + Twrp.zip file. The recover will take the update and then you will see another screen like:
This is a little advanced Recovery known as Team Win Recovery Project. This recovery is touch enabled. You will not have to use volume up/ down and power button to function. After you come up to this point, select reboot and reboot your device.
After rebooting, your device will be rooted and loaded with custom recovery. You can now head over to install Custom Roms.
