How to Change the Boot Animation

Tired of same old boring boot animation of your phone? Well you can change it and customize in your own if you want to. In this post, i will be showing you about how you can change your stock boot animation and replace it.
In order to change the boot animation, your device must be rooted and have some custom rom installed. I recommend that you backup your custom rom boot animation first before replacing it. You will have to change the permission of the new boot animation also. So first get to know how to change the file permission. If you dont know how then you can head to the post here.

So, inorder to access the boot animation of your phone, you will need to browse to the root folder of your phone. Head over to SYSTEM folder and then to MEDIA folder. That is ( root/system/media ). I recommend you to use Root Explorer app.

You will find a file named bootanimation.zip. In other devices, you may also find the shutanimation.zip or shutdownanimation.zip file. These files are the one which shows up during your boot up time and during shutting down time. So if you change it or replace it with your custom one, you will have a custom boot or shut animation.

So copy the downloaded or custom boot animation file of yours in .zip format and replace it. Remember, the name of the zip file must be bootanimation.zip for boot animation and shutanimation/ shutdownanimation for shut animation. After replacing, you will need to change the file permission of the replaced / new boot animation file to 0644 ( rw-r-r ).

After replacing, and changing the file permission, reboot the phone. You will instantly see the changes after the phone boots up.
